North Lake Tahoe, Winter Edition, Coffee, Dinning, Ski & Après-Ski
Winter in North Lake Tahoe is nothing but magical, Whether you are here for the World-class ski resorts, cozy cafés, or après-ski vibes, there’s something for everyone. Since i’ve spent so much time, exploring this side of the lake, I wanted to share a few of my favorite spots that will make your winter trip even better.
While both North and South Tahoe have their charm, I always recommend staying in the North if you’re unfamiliar with the area. Not only do I know this side like the back of my hand, but it also has some of the best ski resorts, après-ski spots, and winter activities.
Start your day with coffee at Drink Coffee Do Stuff!
If there’s one coffee shop I always recommend in Tahoe, it’s Drink Coffee Do Stuff. Located in Truckee, this café is a must-visit for coffee lovers who appreciate high-quality, locally roasted beans.
Must-Try: Their Honey Lavender Latte or Cold Brew if you need an extra kick of energy before skiing.
Where to Eat in Truckee: My Favorite Restaurant
Truckee has no shortage of incredible restaurants, but if I had to pick just one for a cozy winter meal, it would be Stella at the Cedar and Alibi Ale works.
This spot is perfect for warming up after a long day on the mountain, offering hearty, flavorful dishes with a welcoming, laid-back atmosphere. It’s popular among both locals and visitors, so if you want an authentic taste of Truckee, this is the place to go.
Hit the Slopes: My Two Favorite Ski Resorts
Tahoe is known for its incredible skiing and snowboarding, and if you’re planning a winter trip, you can’t go wrong with these two resorts:
1. Sugar Bowl Resort
Sugar Bowl is a hidden gem for those who love steep runs, fewer crowds, and a laid-back atmosphere. It has some of the best powder days in Tahoe and offers a great mix of beginner, intermediate, and advanced terrain.
2. Palisades Tahoe
Formerly known as Squaw Valley, Palisades Tahoe is one of the most famous ski resorts in California. It has a huge variety of runs, an incredible village area, and a rich Olympic history. If you’re looking for stunning views and challenging runs, this is the place.
Not a Skier? Try Ice Skating in Truckee
If skiing isn’t your thing, or if you’re looking for a fun après-ski activity, check out the ice rink in Truckee. It’s a great option for families, couples, or anyone who just wants to enjoy the winter atmosphere without hitting the slopes.
Best Après-Ski Spots in North Lake Tahoe 🍸
After a long day in the snow, there’s nothing better than relaxing with good food, drinks, and a warm atmosphere. Here are my two favorite après-ski spots in Tahoe:
1. Wolfdale’s in Tahoe City
This spot has been a local and tourist favorite for years, offering a cozy yet upscale après-ski experience. Their cocktail menu is fantastic, and the food is just as good.
🌟 What to Try: Their handcrafted cocktails and fresh seafood dishes.
2. Cabana Bar at Northstar
For something more laid-back and lively, head to Cabana Bar at Northstar. It has fire pits, warm drinks, and a fun après-ski atmosphere right by the slopes.
🌟 What to Try: A hot spiked cider or Irish coffee by the fire.
